I bought the Dark Mouse, and the dispatch and comms with Donner was awesome. The problem was Australia post was slow to deliver so I was really excited when it turned up!

It’s a Rat. Sounds like a Rat, plays like a Rat. 10/10 would buy again. In fact, I’m planning on getting a second one for a Turbo Rat Deucetone fuzz sound.

Very good little distortion box for the money. Seems to be well put together and sturdy - metal housing, the switch and other controls feel pretty good, don't have that 'cheap' feel you sometimes get with budget pedals.
The sound is good, too. Clearly meant to be an imitation of the famous RAT distortion stompbox, and to my ears it sounds quite similar. It's a fairly grainy/digital sounding distortion (as is the original). Doesn't really sound like smooth tube distortion but it's not supposed to. It's still pretty musical and maintains some dynamic punch, and gets quite aggressive at higher gain settings. Filter control lets you decide how much of the high end fizz/harshness you want in the signal.
I would recommend this for garage/noise/grunge rock kind of tones, not so much metal or bluesy stuff.
To sum up; does what it's meant to do, sounds good, seems like it'll last. What more can you ask for?

Sounds good, not exactly the same sound as a real Proco Rat, but I actually kind of prefer this one. It has a bit more definition at low settings.

I would've rated versatility a 5 star but my pedal has a specific sound and can only be used in a certain genre. But that is my opinion. Im sure you can tweak it for a more genre fitting sound but heavy metal is where this pedal lives.

Sounds a lot like a RAT. You can go from vintage overdrive tone to classic distortion, onto really high gain until you real fuzz type territory. Really versatile and just what I was looking for. It's also built like a brick. It weighs more than most of my pedals twice its size.

This may be inexpensive but the Dark Mouse is a little beast, haha. It's got way more punch than I ever expected, and depending on your style or mood it can go from a bluesy growl sound, to clean overdrive, to sheer grunge grime, to a serious fuzz box sound. I've been happily shocked at its power and versatility for such a cheap price, one of my favorite ever pedals.

If youve never played a rat then youre missing out. Perfect "do anything" distortion.Great for blues, classic rock, metal,you name it a rat can just about do it. Goes from mild boosted breakup, tight crunch, shrieking distortion to deep fuzzy goodness.the "hyper" selects between the old-school version and the newer "turbo rat" clipping diodes. Classic is fuzzier,turbo is more conciese.

I wanted a distortion pedal that could deliver heavy distortion, and boy am I happy. From the light overdrive of its lowest setting, to buzzy fuzz, and everything in between, this pedal delivers. The tone knob can make it Slayer bright, or Sabbath dark. I could not be happier with my choice!

The dark mouse is an awesome pedal! It sounds close enough to the rat for me and it has more tonal range. I also own the Donner dumble drive and the sophgate and I'm very impressed with the quality of their effects pedals for the cost.

this is an awesome gritty metal distortion pedal that really performs well if you like that sort of sound. I have bought all Donner distortion units and honestly I think they are all great. the difference in the sound of the distortion is unique with every item. I recommend buying all of their products.
