As a beginner, I found the DEP-1S to be the perfect piano for me. The variety of sounds is impressive, and I love that I can connect my phone via Bluetooth to play along with my favorite songs. This portable electric piano is very cool. It can be changed to other sounds, but as a piano it is fun. My husband put the little key markers on it to help himself and anyone else who wants to learn to play it. When one of the granddaughters came to visit last weekend, she had a lot of fun “playing” it. It's not much different from a basic keyboard, but the wooden look and the keys make me feel like we have a piano in the living room. One of these days I'll learn to play more than just the song I learned on the accordion when I was nine years old. The price, at an affordable price, either.

The music/tablet holder does not stay in place very strongly. For sheet music it is fine, but when someone is interacting on a tablet it will sometimes give way and topple over. If you put the wood piece in vertically, it actually works better for holding a tablet (but looks stupid).
As mentioned, having transparent key stickers with the notes called out is such a huge help for a beginner. It is a small add, but really appreciated.
The look of the keyboard is awesome, as it is great to not have another thing made of black plastic sitting around.
It is wide so definitely make sure you have the space!
